George A. Barnes


       
   George A. Barnes, agent at Chattanooga for East Tennessee & Virginia, and Georgia, Memphis & Charleston Railroads, is a native of Massachusetts, born July 26, 1841. He was reared and received a fair education in his native State. He has been in the railroad business since 1870, was secretary and treasurer of Springfield, Jackson & Pomeroy Railroad, Ohio, for some time, and was for a number of years in the employ of the Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis Railroad, at Springfield, Ohio. He came to Chattanooga in December, 1885, and has since been agent for both of the above named roads at this point. November 11, 1881, he was united in marriage to Jeannette Fellers of Ohio, who bore him one child, a son named Clarence A. Mr. Barnes is a Republican in politics and a member of the Masonic fraternity.
