Born in 1837, in McMinn County, Tennessee. He was the son of Sarah Havens* (B. 1818 in VA) and Spencer Beavers. Charles had two other brothers: James 1832; and John 1836 – 1863 (died in Louisville, KY Co G 5th TN Union).
He married Margaret (1837 – 1913) prior to 1858. Together they had 12 children, only 6 lived, they are:

Sarah 1862 – 1927 – buried at Anderson cemetery

James 1873 – 1932 – buried at Anderson cemetery
