W. G. M. Thomas, attorney and counselor at law, a member of the firm of
DeWitt & Thomas, situated in the McConnell Block, is a native of
London
,
Canada
, and is a son of William and Grace (Keiler) Thomas, who were natives of
England
and
Canada
respectively, and who are now residents of Spring City, Rhea Co.,
Tenn.
At the age of three years the subject of this sketch became a resident of
Tennessee by reason of the removal of his parents to Bledsoe County, and he was
there reared to manhood and received his early education. He afterward entered
Vanderbilt
University
, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1882 and then came to
Chattanooga
, where he has since resided practicing his profession. He was first connected
with the firm of DeWitt, Shepherd & Thomas, then accepted the position of
attorney for the Cincinnati Southern Railroad until 1884, when the present firm
of DeWitt & Thomas was organized. Mr. Thomas is one of the city's most
progressive citizens, is a first class lawyer and is a member of the local lodge
of Knights of Pythias. DeWitt & Thomas are attorneys for
Hamilton County
,
