Elder
Cemetery is a very old cemetery located between the Harrison & Georgetown
communities off Hwy 58 in North Hamilton County. It is on private property in a wooded part of a farm
pasture. It spreads on both sides of a
barbed wire fence which means it may be on the property of two owners. Only 4 names were visible during this
transcription. The name of Charles
Elder was added from old WPA records from the 1930’s. Charles gave the land for this cemetery and was the first to be
buried there. There are many sunken
& unmarked graves.
To
locate the cemetery, take Snow Hill Road north from its intersection with
Monger Lane. Travel 4/10 mile.
On the west side of Snow Hill Rd is a small pond. Follow the fence row to the top of the hill
and find the cemetery in the wooded area.
