John Hughes, Jane Skiles Hughes & Nancy Hughes
Hixson. Pioneer settler, John Hughes,
founded the Bakewell Community, the original school
and church. He donated the land for the
church and school, and for the right-of-way for the
Southern Railway through Bakewell.”
