“The state Vs John Pickett    Murder     The grand Jurors in a body returned
into open court a bill of  _________
against the defendant for murder endorsed ________ bill which indectuuremt
(?)  is in the words letters and figures following it State of Tennessee
Hamilton County  Circuit Court September Term 1887.  The Grand Jurors for
the state aforesaid, being duly summoned, elected, impaneled, sworn and
charged to inquire for the body of the society aforesaid, upon their oath
present:  That John Pickett on the 15 day of August 1887 in the county
aforesaid, did unlawfully, feloniously, willfully, deliberately,
maliciously, premeditatedly and of his malice aforethought kill and murder
his wife Archie Pickett and so did count(?) murder in the first degree
against the peace and dignity of the state    G W Brown Forman Grand Jury No

prosecution for the state and the defendant being brought to the bar of the
court in custody of the sheriff and thereupon by agreement the trial of this
cause in continued until the next regular term of this court.
