pure cellith TN Ball to be between forty two and forty eight inches in
diameter between sixteen and twenty inches thick to be purfectly sound
and to be composed of gray rock or flint and intirely clare of blue or
black flint" for which Clift & McRee paid Archer at rate of
$1/inch each stone. Also indebted $140 "to be discharged in cattle

Deputy Sheriff A. M. Rogers levied tract of land in 2nd CD adjoining
Charles M. Smith, John Coffee & others (Book D p. 218-219). Also,
before Hamilton Co. J.P. James Clift Esq., Clift & McRee recovered
several judgments against Gilbert Vandegriff: on 6/13/1840 for $149.42,
on 6/27/1840 for $153.50, on 6/27/1840 for $124.75. On 11/10/1841
Constable John Brown levied tract of land adjoining James Smith
containing 400 acres. Land advertised by sheriff
in Chattanooga Gazette, sold at Harrison courthouse door
2/12/1842 to James Smith for $305, but he refused to pay. Land
advertised again, sold in Harrison on 6/25/1842 to Bery B. Cannon for
$35. On 7/8/1843 Robert C. McRee paid this $35 plus costs of all
