Thomas Brand was " born in England ? " and came to America in July, 1629 as a part of the Higginson Fleet of ships that came to Sale, MA that summer. He was on board the " Lyons Whelp " that sailed from Gravesend, England, 25 April 1629. The passengers were planters from Dorset and Somerset and 6 fishermen from Dorchester. Thomas Brand is amongst a list of six single men on the ship. In the Massachusetts Bay Colony Records 17 April 1629, he is listed as a carpenter. In 1670 he owned 30 acres on the east side of the Poquatuck River at Stonington CT. Stonington was founded in 1649. How long had he lived there? Could this land have been owned by his son Thomas? 41 years have elapsed.
