Esther was a school teacher and had attended college. Fritz was her second husband. Her first husband was a man named Coleman who died shortly after they were married. They had no children.
In the wedding picture of Nobel and Esther the trees and bushes do not have any leaves on them, although there is no snow on the ground. Esther was confirmed into St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chattanooga, Tenn. on May 17, 1903 and was listed as Mrs. Nobel Willis. It is suspected that she and Nobel were married shortly before this and that would account for the trees and bushes not having any leaves on them.
Esther is buried in the Willis family plot in the Ft. Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Tenn. in an unmarked grave. Her obituary from the Chattanooga Times printed on September 1, 1910 states: (headline; Mrs. Essie Tate Willis) "Mrs. Essie Tate Willis, wife of Noble Willis, died yesterday morning at the Piedmont Sanatorium, Atlanta.
