SARAH ISABEL HAYS DIES AFTER LENGTHY ILLNESS

Mrs. Sarah Isabel Hays, 87, widow of William P. Hays, who served as sheriff and county court clerk, died yesterday morning in a Chattanooga hospital after a long illness.

Born in old James County, Mrs. Hays was the daughter of Philip M. and Almeda McRee Roberts. She had been a member of the First Christian Church here for many years.

Surviving are five sons, W. Ed Hays, Mark H. Hays, Sr., T. Cobb Hays, Elbert R. Hays and Cecil T. Hays, all of Chattanooga; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Kate Skillern, Boise, Idaho.

Funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at National Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond J. Birge, pastor of Highland Park Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed E. Hays, Mark Hays Jr., Don Hays, Jim Hays, Dan Hays, Allen Hays and William P. Hays.
