Oscar A. Higdon




HIGDON - OSCAR A., 70, died yesterday afternoon at the residence on Lookout mountain, Rising Fawn, Ga., Route 3.  He is survived by his wife; nine children, Mrs. Richard Hixon, Lookout Mountain; Mrs. John W. Davis, Chattanooga; Mrs. B. S. Harrison, Dade City, Fla.; Earl, Roy, Barley, Lester and Russell Higdon, all of Lookout Mountain; 29 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Will Williams, Euca, Okla.; one brother, M. R. Higdon, San Antonio, Tex.  Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at Payne’s Chapel Church on Lookout Mountain with the Rev. Bartow McFarland and Rev. Luther Hixson conducting.  Burial will be in Payne’s Chapel Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Leon Higdon, Paul Higdon, Raymond Higdon, Russell Miller, Wallace McMillan, Frank Pace.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Joe Massey, Albert McKaig, John Hixson, Silas Fowler, J. P. Clark, George Hale, Charlie Daniel, Sam Torbett, Lee Walden and Will Harp.  The body will be taken to the residence this morning where it will remain until the hour of service.  Arrangements are by the National Funeral Home.
