Retired Structural Draftsman Was Award Winning Fisherman
Charles
“Terry” McDonald, Sr., age 68 of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, May 4, 2006 in a
local hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was a retired structural steel
draftsman. He was a drag racer in the 1960’s. He was an avid fisherman and
competed in various tournaments from 1976-1998. He once held the lake record for
catching the large mouth bass in 1980. He and his brother won the City, State
and National Rook Tournament in 1974.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Herman McDonald and
Annie Lou McDonald.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Blondell McDonald; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Melissa “Liz” and Gary Hill; Pat and Steve Allen; one son, Terry
McDonald, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremy and Susan Hill; Nick Pereira; Blake Allen;
one great-grandson, Michael Hill all of Chattanooga; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Earl McDonald; Darrell and Marilyn McDonald of Chattanooga;
Robert and Faye McDonald of Ringgold; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the East Brainerd
Chapel with Rev. James Hutchings officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton
Memorial Gardens with Jim Renfro, Robert Richey, U.S. Myers, Darle Jordan,
Ronnie Bryson and Harley Phillips serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church, 8740 Harrison
Bay Road, Harrison, Tennessee 37343.
Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 8214 East
Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN.
