Carl F. Ragan
Carl F. Ragan, of Soddy, retired merchant, died Thursday at
8:25 p.m. in a local hospital after a lingering illness.
Mr. Ragan was born in Rockwood, Tenn., the son of the late Joe and Fannie Ragan. He lived for some time in Sale Creek and then came to Soddy at his retirement in 1944.
He was a member of the Soddy Presbyterian Church and was its oldest ruling elder. He belonged to the Soddy Lions Club. He was for many years manager of the Western Auto Associate Store in Harriman.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Ragan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Iris Roberts Ragan; daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Jo Elliott; Chattanooga; two granddaughters Judith Ann and Carlene Elliott. His brothers are Alva, Ernest and Orman Ragan of Sale Creek; Paul Ragan, Daytona Beach, Fla. There are two sisters, Mrs. Nina Howard Safford of Arizona and Mrs. Virgie Wilson, Los Angeles.
The body will be at the home at 2 p.m. today.
Funeral plans will be announced by the Williamson Funeral Home, of Soddy.
