ABEL, James Anderson, 318 Marlboro Avenue, died Saturday. Employed by Hood Feed Co., (Lawrenceburg) Roller Mills, Mercer Pie Company, City of Chattanooga, and Tennessee Highway Department. Born Dayton, TN, son of Emma and John Abel. Graduate Rhea County High School, attended University of the South, Army Officers Training School. Member Brainerd United Methodist Church, treasurer John Arch Class, member Brainerd Kiwanis Club. In 1971, received 50-year pin in masonry. Member Chattanooga Half Century Club, 365 Club, Scottish Rite, recently received 50-year service plaque from United Commercial Travelers of America. Member Alhambra Shrine. Survivors include wife, Margaret ("Maggie Jane") Parry Abel; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Gannaway, Dayton, TN and Mrs. George Norcross, Hutchison, KS; son J. A. Abel, Jr., Signal Mountain, TN; and daughter, Mrs. J. Mose Payne III, Chattanooga; and four grandchildren. Service today, Brainerd United Methodist Church, Rev. John Ripley and Rev. C. P. Hardin officiating. Burial: Brainerd Cemetery.
