ABERNATHY
– BLANCHE WASSON,
94, of Signal Mountain, died Saturday in a local nursing home. She attended
McKenzie Business College and worked in the legal profession as a secretary. She
later worked in the TVA Maps and Survey department. She was preceded in death by
her parents, John C. and Katie Gay Wasson, and her husband, Carl C. Abernathy.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Alverson and Gay Ruhlman, both of
Chattanooga; sister Elizabeth Womack, Spring City, Tenn.; four grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m.
today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Carter officiating. Burial
will be in Wasson Family cemetery, Spring City. Arrangements by South Crest
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
