James O. Brooks, Sr.


Beaver - James O, Brooks Sr., 67, of Beaver, died Wednesday at a Chillicothe hospital.
A native of Silverdale, Tenn., he was a retired safety engineer for Goodyear Atomic Corp., with 26 years service.
Active in civic and community affairs, he was a former Beaver Village mayor for eight years and also was active in the Beaver Emergency Medical Service, Fire Department, Lions Club and Boy Scouts.
An Army veteran of the medical corps and a 10-year member of the Army National Guard, he was a member of Waverly Post American Legion and First Baptist Church of Silverdale.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Estelle Camp Brooks; two sons, James Jr. of Norfolk, VA., and William Franklin of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Barabara Rapp of Granville and Mrs. Joyce Ann Wilder of Tucson, Ariz,; a brother, Warren of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Josephine Ross of Kingston, Ga., and Jeanette Colquitt of Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services are planned at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wald C. Radford officiating, and burial in Beaver Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hammerstein-Cox Funeral Home after noon Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
