CARTER----MRS.
MARTHA A. age 73, life-long resident of
Chattanooga died suddenly at her home, 807 Fairpoint street, last night at 9:30
O'clock. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Bennett, Mrs. R. A.
Terrell and Mrs. Sam Corney, of this city: Mrs. G. J. Haley of New Orleans:
eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral
arrangements in charge of Wann's, will be announced later.

Information by Submitter: . Martha is my cousin. She is buried beside her
husband Squire J. M. Carter in the White Oak Cemetery. There is a mistake on
Martha's tombstone, it should show 1930 instead of 1932. Martha is the daughter
of Jerome C. and Jemima Ann Bolton Simmerman and the reason for Lewis Sheppard's
famed 1874 Chancery Court Case of Hamilton Co. TN.
