Mrs. Hallie Bell-Cooper, wife of George D. Cooper died yesterday morning,
October 31, in a local Chattanooga hospital.
Mrs. Cooper was a deputy Hamilton County court clerk and president of the
Chattanooga Business and Professional Women's Club and had also served as
president of the Wesleyan Service Guild of East Lake Methodist Church.
She was a former president of the Democratic Women's Luncheon Club.
Surviving her are her husband, George D. Cooper; a daughter, Mrs. Douglas
Brooks; three sons, Col. Dewey G. Cooper, Savannah; Richard T. Cooper, Memphis,
and Thomas F. Cooper, Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Brainerd Methodist
Church with the Rev. J. Paul Williams officiating.
The Hamilton County courthouse will be closed at noon Friday for the
funeral services.
Active pallbearers will be David Ramsey, Reese B. Thomas, Judge Robert
Cooper, Thomas W. Koons, Fred W. Brown and D. T. Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Abercrombie, Gov. Frank G. Clement,
Congressman J. B. Frazier, Sen. Estes Kefauver, Commissioner of Conservation
James McCord, Jack Hixson, Mayor P. R. Olgiati, Commissioner Pat Wilcox,
Commissioner H. P. Dunlap, Commissioner Frank Trotter, Commissioner George
McInturff, Judge Wilkes Thrasher, Dr. William A. Stem and all city and county
officials.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The body is at National Funeral Home, McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN
