William C. "Bill" Davis

William “Bill” C. Davis; age 75, of
Chattanooga, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at a local hospital. Mr. Davis was
a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was of the Methodist faith. He was a
graduate of Tyner High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S.
Army. He was retired from the Dupont Corp. with 42 years of service. He
played softball for Dupont and Wesley Memorial for many years, and was a
member of the Dupont Bowling League and the REA Bowling League for many
years. He was an avid fisherman and was the son of the late James W. Davis
Sr. and Babe Clark Davis. He was preceded in death by his brothers and
sister, James W. Davis Jr. and Robert I. Davis and Virginia Lee Davis
Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Smith Davis; daughters and son-in-laws,
Tressa and Donald Bain and Karen and Ron Newman; brothers, Charles E. and
Jack C. Davis; sisters, Mabel Davis Ryon and Mary Kate Davis Singleton,
grandchildren, Stacey Jackson, Adrian Martin, Kris Bain, and Chasta Newman
Burke, all of Chattanooga; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday at 3 PM in the funeral home chapel
with Rev. Ted Painter officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Kidney Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the Cancer Foundation
in Mr. Davis’s honor. The family will receive friends on Sunday 2 hours
prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Rd.
