Mrs. John R. Dean died at her residence, 4419 St. Elmo avenue, yesterday afternoon. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. D. B. Morrison of Centerville, Tenn., and Miss Daisy R. Dean, of this city; one sister, Mrs. A. L. Benedict, of Wathena, Kan.; one granddaughter, Miss Mary Brown Morrison, of Centerville, Tenn., and a niece, Mrs. Henry L. Massey, of Lookout Mountain.
Mrs. Dean was the widow of the late John R. Dean, a Confederate veteran
and a pioneer citizen of this city. She had resided here practically all of her
life and taught in the city schools for many years. She was an honorary member
of Frances Walker chapter, U. D. C., and a member of the First Presbyterian
church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Chapman’s.
