John DeWitt Dickson, Sr.

John DeWitt Dickson (Sr.), age 61, for 33 years connected with the American Railway Express company, died at a local sanitarium yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. He was stricken a few days ago and since that time his condition has been critical.  He appeared to be some what better Sunday night and Monday, and
friends and loved ones were encouraged, but later there came a turn for the worse.  Mr. Dickson was a member of N. B. Forrest camp, and was chairman
of the board of stewards for two years, and for seventeen years was treasurer of the Highland Park M. E. church, south.  He is survived by his wife (Nannie
Florence Russell Dickson); three sons, John DeWitt Dickson, Jr., Charles R. (Russell) Dickson, Sr. of this city, R. F. (Robert Fairchild) Dickson of Memphis,
a daughter, Mrs. R. D. (Drew) Massee (Mary Elizabeth Dickson Massee), of  Miami, FL; a brother, Will Dickson, and a sister, Mrs. Sally (Dickson) Ware,
both of Huntsville, AL.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
