Neta Fitzgerald Hamby

Mrs. Neta Fitzgerald Hamby, 73 of Ooltewah, widow of Squire
Luther Hamby, well-known member of the Hamilton County Quarterly Court, died in
a local
hospital about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. She was the daughter of the late Gus and
Catherine Masoner Fitzgerald, settlers of Ooltewah in what was then James
County. She was a life resident of the community and a member of the Ooltewah
Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd C. Wilson of Tyner;
four sons, J. E. Hamby, Tyner; Gus D. Hamby, Ooltewah; Hoyt Hamby of Dalton,
Ga.; and G. T. Hamby of Chattanooga; one brother, T. H.
Fitzgerald of East Brainard;, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The body is at Turner Funeral Home. Arrangements will be announced later by
Turner Funeral Home.
