Sylvia Long Harrison
2004

Sylvia Long Harrison,
81, of Signal Mountain, died on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004.
Though sorely missed by remaining children and friends, Sylvia left this
troubled world a better place by her passage and love for all. She
challenged each of us to love, learn and live fully. Now it's our turn to
remember her, chase down the "can" and play on.
Sylvia overcame serious childhood illness to lead an extraordinary life full of
laughter, friends and love. Once known and feared as the best "Kick the
Can" player in her youth, Sylvia dedicated her life to loving and helping all of
God's children. Sylvia's log cabin on Signal Mountain was a sanctuary
and inspiration, not only to her, but to many of the people she touched in life.
The youngest daughter of Sim Perry and Sophia Scholze Long, Sylvia is also
preceded in death by her daughter, Betsy; husband, Tom; sisters, Nelsie,
Betty and Gertrude, and brother, Robert.
She is survived by her sons, Richard, David, Mark and their wives; nine
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401
Highway 153.
