George
W. Hixson, age 76, is survived by three sons, John F., W. R. (Note:
Should be W. B?) and E. F. Hixson, the latter is serving in France with
the Army, and three daughters, Mrs.
W. T. Johnson, Mrs. Lawrence Dent, and Mrs. L. H. Smith, one brother and three
sisters. The services will be held
at the church in Hixson, C. E. Pangle officiating. (This is from notes on the
obituary and not exact wording.)

George
Washington Hixson was the son of Wilson Hixson and Nancy Hughes.
He was born 17 October 1842 in Hamilton County, and married there on 18
March 1866 Sarah Jane Smith, born August 1, 1845, died 14 Jan 1917.
In 1868 George W. built the lower mill on North Chickamauga Creek in
Hixson. Both George and Sarah Ja are buried in Hixson Cemetery.
Children were: Ida C. who married Henninger L. Smith, John Francis Marion
who married Margaret Ellen Jackson, William B. who married twice to Margaret
Hixson and Malissa Hixson, Nancy Mary Belle who married William Thomas Johnson,
Elizabeth who married Lawrence Dent, and Ephraim F. who married twice to Carrie
Hixson and Dessie Martin.
George Washington Hixson died July 3, 1919.
