Grover Lee Hixson

    Hixson, Grover, 71, of Montgomery, Ala., a former resident of Hixson, Tenn. died in the VA hospital at Tuskeegee, Ala. Wednesday morning.  He was the son of the late Tim and Tennie Brooks Hixson, a pioneer family of Hixson, a veteran of World War II, and a retired farmer.  Survivors include one brother, Fred Hixson of Hixson, Tenn. also several nieces and nephews.  Funeral arrangements will be announced by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home on Highway 27 in Soddy-Daisy.

    Grover Lee Hixson was born 28 September 1907 the youngest child of Timothy L. And Tennie Brooks Hixson. Grover was in the Navy during W.W.II.  He married Thelma Jenkins Lazenby who had two sons, Billy and Bob, from a former marriage who were raised by Grover and Thelma.  Billy was killed in service during the Korean War.  After the Korean War, they moved to Montgomery, AL to live near Grover's older sister Bertha Mae Hixson Lockett and her family. Grover is buried in the Hixson Cemetery.  His wife, Thelma Hixson, and sister, Bertha Mae Hixson Lockett, are buried in Alabama.
