Rebecca Hixson Hixson


        The funeral of Mrs. Rebecca Hixson, aged 80, wife of the late H. G. Hixson, one of the best known residents of the Hixson community, who died at 6 o'clock Saturday morning at her home at Hixson, will be held in the Hixson church this morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Putnam officiating.  Interment will follow at Hixson.  Surviving the deceased are five children, all of whom were with her during her illness and when she passed away.  They are Mrs. Nancy Rogers, Mrs. Lowe Adams, and Mrs. Ruth Gadd of Hixson; Mrs. Carrie Dent and Will R. Hixson of Gastonia, NC; two sisters, Margaret Holcombe and Miss Lizzie Hixson of Hixson.  Pallbearers will be as follows:  Active Arthur Adams, Albert, Ira, and Ollie Rogers, Walter and Slater Gadd; Honorary, P.W. Phipps, M.N. Hartman, F.T. Lewis, Dan F. Potts, J. T. Homes, G.M. Rogers, E. E. Hartman, A.R. Rogers and W. F. Arnett.  Mrs. Hixson had been a faithful member of the Southern Methodist Church for forty years.  She was loved by a wide circle of friends. Death date June 12, 1926.

      Rebecca Hixson Hixson was born 14 June 1847, the daughter of Wilson Hixson and Nancy Hughes.  She married 19 July 1866 in Hamilton County to Henry Grayson Hixson, born 26 June 1836, died 26 Feb 1920, son of Houston Hixson and Rebecca Grayson.  Henry Grayson Hixson was Justice of Peace for Hamilton County. Both are buried in the Hixson Cemetery in Hixson.  Their children were: Nancy J. who married John H. Rogers, Louisa Rebecca who married John Taylor Adams, Carrie Elizabeth who married William Emmet Dent, Margaret Ruth who married Joshua Beck Gadd.
