Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie McElhaney, 72, wife of the Rev. R. L.
McElhaney, who died at her residence on
Greenwood
road Monday morning at
7:45 o’clock
, after a month’s long illness, will be held at the Highland Park Baptist
church this afternoon at
2:30
, the Rev. C. F. Clark and the Rev. J. D. Bethune officiating. Interment in
Greenwood
cemetery, with arrangements in charge of the National Funeral Home.
Mrs. McElhaney was a member of a pioneer family of mill builders and
operators, her father having constructed Lee and Gordon’s mill at
Chickamauga
, Bird’s mill and Lightfoot’s mill.
She is survived by her husband; six daughters, Mrs. James McRoy, of
Detroit
; Mrs. R. C. Talley, Mrs. C. R. Genung, Mrs. W. C. Gallman and Misses Isabella
and Robbie McElhaney; two sons, Elwood and Oscar McElhaney, also of this city;
three brothers, William Lightfoot, of this city; James Lightfoot, of Arcadia,
Fla, and John Lightfoot, of Kirkland, Tex.; also fifteen grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral cortege will leave the residence on
Greenwood
road this afternoon at
2 o’clock
.
