William Paul Jones

William Paul Jones, 79, a 28 year resident of Melbourne, FL died Tuesday, March
15, 2011 at Holmes Regional Medical Center where he was a volunteer. He was born
in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Paul retired
from DuPont after 32 years. He joined the Alhambra Shrine in 1962. He was the
Southeastern Shrine Representative of New Orleans in 1965 and Tampa, FL in 1966.
He served as a member of the Shriner’s Clown Unit, known as “Smiley”. He also
served on the Crippled Children’s Committee. He and his wife, Lorene, retired
and moved to Melbourne, FL in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and
volunteering. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Ethel Jones.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lorene Jones; one brother, Sam
(Liz) Jones, one sister Mildred (Tommy) Blair; children Ginger (Jimmy) Howard,
Paula (Bruce) Jolley, Mike (Heidi) Jones; Rick (Sharon) Hutchens; Vonni Jones,
Susan (Ricky) Miller; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 niece. A
private family memorial was held March 19, 2011 at Fountainhead. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Alhambra Shrine Children’s Hospital in
Tampa or a charity of your choice.
