Dr. Hugh C. McRee

Dr. Hugh C. McRee, 69, son of the late Judge R.C. and Mary E. McRee, died at a hospital in Birmingham on Oct 6. Dr. McRee was born at Soddy in 1876, son of a prominent pioneer family in Hamilton County. He practiced medicine for a number of years at Whitwell. For the past 20 years he was county health director for Morgan County, Alabama, and he made his home in Decatur, where he was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Milton, Lt. Pryor McRee and Sgt. Douglas McRee; a daughter, Miss Anna McRee; two brothers, Dugald McRee of Aztec, N.C.; Park McRee of Chattanooga; three sisters, Mrs. J. W. Clift of Soddy; Mrs. Edward Thomas, Farmington, N.C. and Mrs. Lizzie Carmichael, Aztec, N.M. He was buried at Hartselle, Ala., where he had lived for a number of years.
