Clift
E. Welch of Soddy-Daisy died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was 70.
A retiree from Combustion Engineering after
more than 30 years, he was a member of the International Association of
Machinists Local 56, and a member of the Ashland Terrace Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bette Anne
Tankersley Welch; son, the Rev. Michael L. Welch, Rocky Mount, N.C.; sister,
Estel Lewis, Soddy-Daisy; a grandson, Garrison Murphey, Rocky Mount, N.C.,
several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m.
at the chapel of Williamson and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth I. Rickett
and the Rev. John W. Gregory officiating.
Burial will be in Bowman Cemetery with
Marvin Williams, Sonny Ewton, Winson Conrad and Van and Nevel Lewis serving as
pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are the elders and
deacons of Ashland Terrace Christian Church.
The family will receive friends today from
7:30 to 10:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the
Ashland Terrace Christian Church Building Fund.
