Lawrence Chester Womack

Lawrence Chester Womack, 18, coxswain, US Navy, was killed Nov. 10, 1944, in
the South Pacific Fleet, while serving on the USS Y.M.S. 311. He is survived by
his parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. P. Womack, RFD No. 2, Soddy, Tenn.; six sisters,
Mrs. Ernest E. Smith, Rossville, Ga.; Mrs. E. C. Williams, LaGrange, Ga; Mrs. S.
J. Davis, Bessamer, Ala; Mrs. J. C. Parker, Misses Judy and Robbie Dean Womack,
Soddy, and nine brothers, Amos J. Womack, Chattanooga; G. W. Womack, Bessemer,
Ala.; Norman Lee, Marvin, Pless, Lloyd, W. R., Jimmie and Allen Womack, all of
Soddy, Tenn. He was a member of Burks United Chapel Methodist Church. Funeral
services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, July 11, 1948, at the
Dividing Ridge Church of God, the Reverend Cordell Ellis and the Rev. L. T.
Lancaster officiating. Interment, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, will be held in Dallas Memorial Park. The body will arrive in Chattanooga
at 12:35 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Saturday morning it will be taken to the
home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Womack at the Dallas community near
Soddy.
