Rossville - Eugene Franklin "Sonny" Pierce Jr., 67, passed away
Wednesday, July 13, 2005.
He was born and raised in Ringgold, Ga., and had
resided in Rossville up until his death. He served his country in the
U.S. Army and was a charter member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Fairview, where
he enjoyed driving the church bus especially for Vacation Bible School
He was a former security guard for Pinkerton Security
Services. He had worked at several service stations, Champion's Quarles
and Save-Sum all in Rossville. He also drove tour buses for Aldmore
Tours and D&M Tours and retired from Walker County Transportation
Department, where he enjoyed driving "Bus 19" for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Edwards
Pierce; and mother-in-law, Mamie Tanner.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois Tanner
Pierce, all of Rossville; father, Eugene Franklin Pierce Sr. of
Ringgold; sisters, Betty Kendrick, Doris Silvers, both of Ringgold, Sara Jones
of LaFayette, Ga.: brothers, Charles and Tommy Pierce, both of Ringgold;
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh
Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul O'Neal , the Rev. Derrell O'Neal, and the
Rev. Bruce Cappleman officiating.
Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2005, in
Chattanooga National Cemetery.
