Samuel P. Ramsey,
75, of East Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of Franklin, N.C., but had
lived in the Chattanooga area most of his life.
He was a member and deacon of South Seminole
Baptist Church.
He was a 50-year
Mason at Whorley Lodge No.
601 and a 32nd-degree member of Scottish Rite and Alhambra
Shrine.
He attended Western Carolina University.
Mr. Ramsey was involved in Dizzy Dean Baseball
for 20 years and was the first person inducted into the Dizzy
Dean Hall of Fame.
He was retired from Ramsey Brick Sales after
many years of service.
He was preceded in death by two brothers,
Winfred A. Ramsey and Bobby
Ramsey. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Pat
Ramsey, two sons, Barry
Ramsey of Chattanooga and Chris Ramsey; one granddaughter,
Valerie Ramsey; one great-granddaughter,
Caitlyn Marie Ramsey, all
of Tampa, Fla.; two
sisters, Peggy Pendergrass
of Inverness, Fla.; and
Patsy (Henry) Claywell of
Tampa, Fla.; several nieces
and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at
South Seminole Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Perry, the
Rev. Billy Dean and Dr. C.S. Knapp officiating. Burial will
be private.
