ROSSVILLE- Mamie Elizabeth Tanner died Sunday, March 19, 2000, in a local hospital.  She was 87.

Mrs. Tanner was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and North Georgia areas.  She was a charter member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she taught the Grace Bible class for many years.  Mrs. Tanner worked with Catoosa County Nutrition Center in Ringgold, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband,  Harry Tatum Tanner, and two sons, Harry Tatum Tanner, Jr. and Grover David Tanner.

Survivors include four daughters, Esther James, Patricia Wright and Lois Pierce, all of Rossville, and Dorothy Carter, Birmingham, Ala.; brother William Gilbert, Flintstone, Ga.; sister Kay Eaves, Hixson; 19 grandchildren two step grandchildren; 22 great-grand-children.

The funeral will be today March 21, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul O'Neal and the Rev. W. L. Galloway officiating.
