VARNELL - MRS. MARGARET HALL, aged 65, passed away at
her home in Silverdale Monday night after a lingering illness. She is
survived by her husband, G. G. Varnell: two daughters, Mrs. M. G. Poe, of
Apison, and Mrs. J. H. Poe, of Ooltewah; seven sons, H. A. Varnell, of Ooltewah,
J. A. Varnell, of Tyner; L. F., S. L., H. H., C. R., and C. C., all of
Silverdale; one brother, S. L. Hall, of Oklahoma; five sisters, Mrs. Ellen Tate,
of Texas; Mrs. Malinda Collins, of South Pittsburg; Miss Sara Perkinson, of East
Chattanooga; Mrs. Eva Swafford, of Kentucky, and Mrs. Mary Moore, of this city.
Mrs. Varnell was a member of the M. E. church, south.
Funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock from the Cumberland
Presbyterian church at Silverdale, the Revs. A. J. Thomas and L. H. Sylar
officiating. Internment will follow in the Ooltewah cemetery. Active
pallbearers will be the grandsons, Grady, Raymond, Virgil and David Poe, and
Eugene and Lewis Varnell; honorary, Mrs. Sallie Brooks, Mrs. Ella Moore, Mrs.
Callie Wolfe, Mrs. J. R. Smith, Mrs. Sam Roy and Mrs. J.P. House.
