This is one of the few photos showing the actual removal of graves from the Norman Eldridge Cemetery prior to the TVA flooding the area for the Chickamauga Dam. 

 

Description:  Workers actually removing graves. Witnesses are the men in suits who will take inventory of the corps i.e. condition of the body and any clothing or  jewelry on the body.  A form is completed and still on file of all bodies removed and relocated.  That file is at NARA in Atlanta under TVA cemetery relocation. Other individuals could be members of the community or family members.
